Beginning of August 2008, Martin signed a three year contract with BB Biotech AG & BB Medtech AG. The two investment companies are founded in Switzerland and focused on healthcare investments.
BB Biotech invests in big biotech companies on a global scale. As of now it is one of the largest pure-play global biotech investors. In November 1995, BB MEDTECH was registered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
BB MEDTECH’s principal focus is investing in companies within the global medical technology industry. Important product segments for BB Medtech AG are molecular diagnostics, dialysis and intensive care. The shares of both vehicles are listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange (SMI) and the German Stock Exchange, BB BIOTECH is part of the German “TecDax”. The Swiss Golf Pro Supporter Club (SGPSC) is a sponsored organization that supports young professional golf players in Switzerland. The club supports them not only financially but also in various other ways, provided that the professional wishes this. Furthermore the members of the SGPSC help to raise the awareness level and the development of golf as a professional sport in Switzerland. Members of the organization love golf and most of them play on the fairways themselves. The SGPSC dues are used to support golf professionals, give bonuses to them and pay for the member’s organized events. There are many more benefits to its members which are described in more detail in Article 4 in the SGPSC handbook. Also does the regulation of SGPSC say that the number of members are limited. The administration is run from the office “Corporate Events AG” in Zurich.
Martin “learned” to play on the Engadine Golf Club. The Club has supported the top Swiss golf player for a few years. First in his Amateur years and now also as a Professional. The Engadin valley can look back on a long golfing history. The golf course at Samedan, built in 1893, is the oldest course in Switzerland and one of the first on the European continent. The "youngster" – the golf course at Zuoz-Madulain inaugurated in 2003 – lies at only a few drives down the valley. Since its foundation in 1993, the Swiss Golf Foundation has been supporting young Swiss professional golfers, both male and female. This support has come in the form of financial help toward travelling costs and also technical support camps under the supervision of the national coach. Several camps are organized during the season, featuring not only technical coaching but also the mental game, the bio-mechanics of the swing, fitness programs etc. Furthermore, an Order of Merit system has been set up were playing professionals may earn bonuses for their performances throughout the year. All this support has been made possible thanks to various sponsors. Since 1997 CREDIT SUISSE has been the main sponsor and, further to its financial help, has provided the prize money for the Order of Merit. The Swiss Golf Foundation also has two co-sponsors: Rolex and Jaguar. Martin has been in the Swiss Golf Team for three years and is supported by the foundation.
